Ok. Here's what I've been working on. Since the FMC guides were ordered last week and they still haven't billed my debit card account yet, I'm guessing they won't be coming for a while. No biggie. There's lots of other stuff to work on. One thing that has been bothering me is the lack of configurability in the pieces. Most major objects are moved simply in the X and Y axis, but their sizes remained constant. Well, not any more. I just finished the PFD upgrade. Every piece is moveable and scalable. Each configuration setting is found under the section in which it would belong (anything in the ADI or dealing with attitude is found in the ADI section, anything dealing with the autopilot display is found in the AP section and so on and so forth). The ND and EICAS are a little more complicated, but now I have the method to finish the madness and will be working on getting the other two programs hammered out soon. Hopefully by the time I get the configurability makeover done, I'll have the books on my doorstep so I can get to finishing the FMC.
For some time, the project has sat idle. This is not due to non-interest of the project, but just the opposite. I have been very busy at work and designing the paneling for my 737NG sim. Due to that major task, I have been delayed from updating the FMC and the other primary programs of the project.
My goals for the moment are to get the FMC guide soon ($40 plus shipping) and the Boeing Handbook for the 737 series aircraft. Once I get the FMC guide, I will be able to complete much of the FMC as far as accurate calculation of aircraft performance and power settings.... read more
It seems that the project is nearing an Alpha state. I have pretty near completed functionality of the PFD, ND, EICAS, FMC and Linker programs. All that is left is to enable the FMC to retreive information from Linker as well as finish the FMC pages and logic. The ND is in rough shape and is only functional in the MAP mode, but after finishing the FMC's issues, I will be working on the ND thoroughly to get it finished.... read more
