Progress!

At our last meeting, zealot cleaned up the code quite a bit, abstracting the menu and getting our code ready to handle the cutscene and gameplay gamestates (which will come soon, I'm sure.) Meanwhile, our art department created the background you see here, as well as developed brody's character concept. We're about to implement our first musical track into the menu, provided we can get in contact with our music guy soon. The storyline is becoming much more developed, and the first tangible gameplay elements are on the near horizon. (I know this isn't much to the outside world, but you've gotta stay pumped up, I figure.) Great work, all.

The Ball is Officially Rolling!

As of Last Saturday Night, we have something to show for our efforts, as FSB now exists in some form. It will be uploaded on the CVS fairly shortly. It's just a menu right now, but it supports SDL_ttf, SDL_Mixer, and SDL_Image. This is a significant improvement over our previous tetris game, as it is already able to display jpeg files instead of bitmaps, it uses truetype fonts instead of a bitmap font routine borrowed from the (now apparently down) cone3d.gamedev.net, and it can load mp3 and ogg music files. In the interest of promoting free standards, we will most likely use ogg files in the final version. (Provided there is no objection from the others on the project.)
