Hello Slawek, thank you for your information. I'm interested to know your work-progress, so I hope for a soon availability of code at FRM project at sourceforge.net. Currently in my project we are discussing about DRM models and availability of related technologies (ex. http://www.axmedis.org/) to adopt on top of a digital object management platform, so we are investigating about suitable solutions. The idea of managing DRM by combining FOAF user profiles with ODRL vocabulary is appealing because of its underlying semantic approach and I'm interested to: the "something more" you need for the purpose envisages for the adoption of another REL vocabulary such as MPEG REL (http://rhizomik.net/semdrms/)? This seems to me could be more advisable for the current trend on digital object modeling . What do you think about? looking for your feedback, best regards, Giuseppe -----Messaggio originale----- Da: Slawomir Grzonkowski [mailto:sla...@de...] Inviato: mercoledì 29 agosto 2007 20.01 A: Giuseppe Bux Cc: 'FOAFRealm users'; 'Sebastian Kruk'; frm...@li... Oggetto: Re: R: DRM support in JermoDL? Hello Giuseppe, and thank you Sebastian for contacting us. Currently, we are working on particular DRM components. At the moment we have, for example, an identity management and several small sub-projects developed in our eLearning cluster. The delivery time for the first version is Jan / Feb. I expect that after this point we will see what is missing or needed to apply it to JeromeDL project. We would like to make to project flexible and also make possible using it in other applications. Something I need and I would like to collaborate with somebody is a model of digital license, and FOAF / FOAFRealm / ODRL ontology extension to make the social sharing possible. In the paper you've read there is a proposition about the ODRL ontology, but perhaps we need something more. We are planing to put the code at Fair Rights Management (FRM) project at sourceforge.net. However, we have to solve some IP agreements firstly. In case of further discussion, I have also cc-ed the project mailing list. I am looking to hearing from you, Slawek Giuseppe Bux wrote: Dear Slawek, as from the below mailing with Sebastian Kruk, I'm interested to your work about fair-use DRM in social networks. The idea of extending the FOAF vocabulary of FOARealm and integrating this with existing DRM Solutions seems very suitable for the purpose. My question is about the perspective of implementing such a fair-use DRM solution on top of JeromeDL. I'm involved in a research project for the set up of a platform of semantic digital library (ex. JeromeDL) on top of which to implement services for multichannel and multiformat distribution of multimedia digital content, ruled by DRM constraints. So learning from your experience could be very useful for me. I would be very grateful to you if you let me known about the current progress in your work and about its planned delivery. We would like to integrate FOAFRealm with existing DRM solutions. FOAFRealm so far served as a access control module, while it was up to the application, like JeromeDL, using it, to determine how to handle information coming from FOAFRealm. We would like to make a step forward, and deliver a fair-use DRM, where sharing content could mimic the way we do that in the real life. We think that this could be quite interesting to both content providers and the users. Since Slawek is responsible at the moment for research and development on FOAFRealm, I cannot give you any detailed dates on when to expect this solution achieved. I am, however, very interested in using it in, among the others, JeromeDL; hence, you can expect it to be delivered to JeromeDL pretty soon after the results from Slawek. I have cc-ed Slawek and foafrealm-users mailing list, where you should be able to learn more on the planned schedule, list of features, etc. Cheers, S On 27 Aug 2007, at 18:14, Giuseppe Bux wrote: Dear Sebastian, Your interesting paper about DRM, solutions based on Social networks, envisages the perspective of supporting that by implementing the typical DRM architectural model with extension of the FOAFRealm module. Are there experiences of such implementation in the context of the JeromeDL infrastructure?
