Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. The release of FreeWorld-ircd 2.0 Release Candidate 2 has arrived. This release addresses some bugs and feature fixes found in the first Release Candidate. These are outlined in the ChangeLog. Depending on feedback or bug reports this may become the new STABLE release. Bug reports can either be filed on SourceForge or by emailing the mailing lists. Same goes for any feedback. Some changes between RC1 and RC2: - Improved Global Messaging - Ability to disable SVS commands & Masking - Added m_shortcuts.c (Services Shortcuts. ex. /NICKSERV) - Small fix to masking. FreeWorld-ircd 2.0 has hit Release Candidate. New features include: * Optional SSL client ports. * Network Administrator status has more privledges associated with it option in include/config,h to allow network administrators to send /mode's to channels without operator status (disabled by default) * User modes: +/-R - Identified nickname +/-S - Marked as a service * Channel modes: +/-c - color stripping +/-F - enable word filter +/-f <word> - add/remove a word from the filter +/-r - registered channel +/-R - only allow identified nicknames. * Fixed some output in /whois * Server side global messaging /GLOBAL * Word filter no longer rejects messages, replaces the offending word with <censored> * Slightly improved handling of +/-X -- Jeremy Johnston (Network Administration / Developer) FreeWorld IRC Network Email: je...@cv... | jer...@sh...
