Great job on figuring out the intersection of support for feature flags... Four character strings seems reasonable.

AAT support would be valuable. Doesn't it mean that rendering would work in Safari on Mac OS and iOS? That would be worthwhile.

I am completely naive about this, but is it still the case today that the font cannot be made to render correctly with OpenType? In other words, is SIL absolutely necessary? Given that so few browsers support it, and that all browsers, AFAIK, support OpenType rendering, this would obviously be huge, but I'm not sure if (a) it's technically impossible to do or (b) it's possible to do, but too much work (i.e. need to specify too many glyph placement table, or...)?
