Status update - feb

Hello.
I have some free time last days so I found old code of FreeSoccer and started to work on it again.

I'd like to give you some info about what's going on around.

1) Yake 0.2 is still not released and I'm pretty sure that I want to use it, so any tech-demo will not be released before 0.2 is ready.
2) API is quite ready for 0.1, I painted it, coded it, and I'm satisfied of it :)
3) As I'm working on Linux machine only, current code is Linux only ready. I want to make it cross-platform but I need a Windows coder for this.
4) I'm still missing designers, but it's not a problem yet because it can wait. A code is much more important now.
5) My current plan is to run a Wiki on freesoccer.sf.net and gather ideas for this game there. I hope to do this in this week.
6) The good thing is that in past months I was thinking about this game and I'm almost ready with a feature plan for FreeSoccer. So, I'll summarize it:

a) This game is mostly for internet use. No single player planned in any early stages to minimize the work on AI.
b) Main mode of this game will be a one-player mode where you're controlling one player with TPP or FPP.
So basicly to play this game you will need to find a squad - 10 guys like you, start trainings and then start a match with another 11 guys who made different team.
There will be also place for human refree (but I also want to make AI one) and human manager. As a manager you will coordinate tranings and prepare tactics and squad for match.

In next stage I will add some tournaments too.

About navigation. I have plenty of ideas here and I'm not sure which is the best. I'd like to give you a full freedom of movement, so probably both - keyborad and mouse will be involved. One will be able to do the tricks and invent new ones.
There will be no "real players" like Raul or Ronaldo because I will not be able to pay for their names to FIFA.
The graphic level should be high. As I'm planning to finish this game in year or two (to 1.0 version) I think that this game will require 2.5 Ghz CPU and GeForce FX quality graphic card to run - yes I want it to be high-level. There will be no bitmaped crows - only models, no motion-captured pre-prepared sequences of movement, but real, live-time based freedom of play.

I also will not add some stupid "game balancers" like the ones you can widely see in Fifa games. You know about them... The ones when CPU player is getting up after fall much faster than you, when he knows precizely what you're doing at his back, and others.
The only rules will be the FIFA ones and the ones made by mother nature and called "physics". :)

I also need a help. It's my first game, and no matter how experienced code I am, I know that a help from experienced game coder would be highly appreciated.

If you're the one, and want to help me just by answering some questions or real coding - mail me.
Same about Windows coders. I need someone to port my code to windows which should be very easy at this step.

If you're modeler, I need you too :) I need at the moment some stadium and human models.

Ok, that's all for now. More info will show up in Wiki as soon as I set it up.

Stay tuned!
