Hi, homebrew just installed 1.9.1 and...

    1. I was happy to see markdown support in the changelog. But how do you use it?
    2. The little red arrows I've grown used to for years to indicate a link have been replaced by a little red triangle and a large ugly multi-color gear. Is that intentional? Can I revert back to old style link icons?

The new link icon I'm seeing.

The "gear" icons means that the node is a link to another map or node. That version have default icons based on what the node does. If for example the node is a link to a folder then there will be the folder icon.

Thank you for the explanation. How could I replace it with the old icon? [1] suggests putting file names in:

    ~/.freeplane/1.9.x/resources/icons/

might work, but I wonder what names to use, and what the file names of the old icons are?

You can use markdown by selecting markdown format for nodes and markdown content type for details and notes in the formatting panel to the right.

You can restore old style icons by disabling option "Show link specific icons"

You can use command search dialog to find the option in the preferences

I've always kept the panel on the right collapsed, so all of that is new to me. Can I make everything markdown, of this is only for after-the-fact editing of a given node? And will it always require the separate markdown editor , or can I edit in it inline?

you can change the styles of the map and define there that, for example, the default style uses markdown in the text, datails or/and notes. It is up to you

BTW: Are markdown tables supported, if so, which ones?

Also, the markdown editor pop-ups a new dialog with unwrapped lines. It'd be awesome to edit node text in the standard mode in markdown.

I'm still wondering if I can increase the visual size of the font in the markdown editing box and have the lines dynamically wrap. Any clues? (Long lines run off the right side of the edit box.)

Freeplane uses markedj library to render markdown. I think you can look there for more specific information.
