ISSUE: FREEPLANE APP CANNOT BE OPENED.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
Downloaded Freeplane last stable version (1.5.14;) from [https://sourceforge.net/projects/freeplane/).
Default DiskImageMounter.app correctly opens the downloaded freeplane_app-1.5.14.dmg file.
The resulting Freeplane.app can be successfully copied to the Applications folder.
Freeplane.app cannot be opened: a pop-up window says the app is damaged, recommending to move it to the Trash—see attached pop-up window shot.

Thank you very much for your work!

Please try procedure described at http://www.imore.com/how-open-apps-unidentified-developer-os-x-mountain-lion and report the result

Also check that you have oracle Java 7 or 8 installed

    Regards,
    Dimitry

      Hi Dimitry.

Thank you very much for supporting this bug.

I had already tried the proposed app openning procedure and the result is the same. On the other hand, trying to open Freeplane.app without having copied it to the Applications folder —just directly from the opened image disk— triggers the same pop-up window, suggesting in this case that the disk image should be ejected. See attached screen shot.

My computer is running Java version 8 Update 101 build 1.8.0_101-b13, the latest stable one. See attached screen shot.

      Take care.

    Hello Eneko,

Have the same issue with 1.5.13, 1.5.14 and 1.5.15 on El Capitan.

I have managed to made 1.5.15 working by temporary set security option "allow applications downloaded from" as described in the http://www.imore.com/how-open-apps-unidentified-developer-os-x-mountain-lion

    Have a nice day.

    Regards,
    Alex

      Hi Aleksandr!

Temporarily turning on “Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere” (under System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General) lets open Freeplane.app.

Thank you very much for the info!!!

Same issue with macOS Sierra where Gatekeeper is stricter than ever, defaulting to only allow downloads from either the "App Store" or the "App Store and identified developers".

Terminal.app commands can turn on the (hidden) "Allow Apps from Anywhere" option.

About the “damaged app” message Apple says: the app has been altered by something other than the developer. This message will appear no matter the Gatekeeper option chosen.

Hi, I am using MacBook Sierra 10.12.3 and I am also getting the same problem & same error message reported by Eneko.
The Sys/Pref/Security is set as figure attached.

Judging from the discussion above, I assume this problem has not been resolved. I am seeing it with macos sierra (10.12.4) and freeplane newer than 1.5.15 or so.

Oops. The terminal app command that Eneko Gotzon Ares mentions above fixes the problem.

The problem has not been resolved! On my macOS Catalina 10.15.3 Freeplane 1.7.11 it gives the same warning message. I can only open it by forcing the opening with the procedure indicated by Apple (control + open ...), but in any case the app is not controlled by malware!

Thank you for submitting the screen shots.

Apple has added additional requirements called notarization for MacOS Catalina. It goes beyond usual signing the app. I am going to check if Freeplane can fulfill this requirements. But for now you can learn here how to disable notarization requirement for Freeplane and other apps:
