Category: Interface Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: SitRep window displays improperly after combat Initial Comment: I won a combat. The window displaying the results of the combat appeared for a couple of seconds and then disappeared without any action on my part. I then got a SitRep window that reported: A combat has taken place in Wunjo. We won! Medical Pathology has been researched. Genetic Engineering has been researched. The Empire3 empire is no more. [OK] Note that part of the two announcements about research are greyed out. I don't know if it is a bug that 2 different technologies indicate they have been researched. When I click OK, it goes into a normal looking SitRep window that displays all of the above information except the OK. If someone wants a copy of the saved game, just email me. RP is applied to techs in sequence on the queue, which results in parallel research if there is more than enough RP for the first tech on the queue (which is normally the case). It is not difficult to arrange for multiple techs to finish being researched simultaneously or on a particular turn (eg. when ship arrives at a system). Combat reports normally appear and disappear quite quickly, regardless of the results of combat. I've never seen a partially greyed out sitrep, so I'm not sure what you're referring to by that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Shawn Abigail (sabigail) Date: 2006-11-24 18:44 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1652784 Originator: NO When I get time I'll install the SVN and see if it happens again. However I'm not sure exactly what might enable this to be reproduced on the latest code branch (i.e. I can send a cruiser to destroy an empire, but if the discovery of 2 technologies in the same turn is relevant to the problem it might be a long time before all this happens to me in a single turn). Perhaps we can break the problem down into parts: (a) from playing the game it looked to me that technology is researched sequentially. If so, the cause of the bug may be due to two technologies getting discovered in the same turn. If technologies are researched in parallel, this may or may not be relevant. (b) after a successful combat resulting in the destruction of an empire, the screen that reports the results of the combat appeared for about 2 seconds and then disappeared without any user action. Is this normal behavior? (c) the partially greyed out SitRep screen with an [OK] button, and then the normal SitRep screen that appears after I press [OK]. This display problem could be a result of (a) or it could be unrelated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2006-11-24 16:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=913462 Originator: NO A lot has changed in SVN since RC4, and a save file from them won't work with the latest version. Can you describe a way to set up a situation in game that causes this to occur (as simply as possible and you have time to figure out)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Shawn Abigail (sabigail) Date: 2006-11-24 15:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1652784 Originator: NO Sorry, I should have provided these details in the original bug report: I'm using V0.31 RC4 Rev 1804. OS is Windows XP with all the latest patches. Computer is a Dell with the standard low end Intel graphics, running at 1024x768 with 32 bit color. Computer has 512MB. The bug is reproducible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2006-11-24 15:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=913462 Originator: NO What version are you using? V0.31 RC4, latest from SVN? Are you on Windows XP, or some other OS? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=544942&aid=1602082&group_id=75752 |
