Hi, Could you all please let me know what you are working on currently? Particularly for the month of Feb trying to get 0.1 completed. If you don't have anything to work on and you want something, could you also please let us know on this list? Thanks Mark |

I've spent most of my weekend on GG and FO. Here are the highlights: 1) GG now has MSVC 7.1 solution/project files, and all the DLL export code and minor tweaks that were necessary are now a part of the default GG repository codebase. The code for GG and FO should compile cleanly using gcc/Linux, gcc/windows, and msvc/Windows. 2) I am VERY happy to report that I'm having all kinds of problems with the Linux build now, but that as soon as I started using the new-and-improved autotools stuff from Dennis, they all went away. I now, for the very first time, have a working version of FO linked to a working version of GG, both of which were built using the autotools build system. And there was a great rejoicing. 3) I fixed that bug that only I could see. The problem was a function call with the wrong number of arguments in MapWnd that caused an Enter2DMode() and Exit2DMode() to be called around the painting of each nebula. The bug was only seen by me because the crappy OpenGL implementation that comes with my crappy builtin 3D card has the minimum projection stack depth of 2 allowed by the OpenGL standard. Most of you (all, probably) have a stack depth greater than that. Since my stack was shallower, the glPushMatrix*( in the Enter...() call was ignored, and the glPopMatrix in the Exit...() call was not, and I ended up trying to paste 2D images into a 3D world, which did not work. 4) As you can probably guess from the length of #3, it took me a long time to figure it out. In that process, I wrote a small header that should ease and aid OpenGL debugging in the future. It grabs a snapshot of the OpenGL state, which can be compared to other snapshots, or dumped as text output. It told me almost immediately where and what the problem was. I'm putting it in util, and calling it GLStateComparator.h. 5) Ronald has been kicking a lot of ass lately, by eliminating bug after bug. I've noted the items on the v0.2 bug/TODO list that are resolved. If I missed any, someone let me know. Keep up the good work, Ronald. As I've said before, I'm currently in limbo. I'll let you know when I'm available to work on stuff again. Mark and others: I'm working on getting a clean compile (need GiGi next) and then I'll be looking for a task to sink my keys into.
