Hi,

I use Freeorion v4.1 on wine on ubuntu.
I can't load any saved game, even a small one (1 turn) nor a big one (150 turns).

The thread use 100% of my CPU, and the game is freezed.

    I haven't seen any issues of this sort. Are you loading a save created with the same version of FreeOrion? How long did you wait for the save to load? What happens if you start a new game with 10 stars and no AI empires, save it, quit, and try to load it? Have a look for freeorion.log and freeoriond.log from after trying to load such a game, and post them as an attachment to a reply (zipped if necessary), or use pastebin if you can't get the attachment to to work.

    It looks like the server isn't receiving a network connection from the client when you try to load a game. Does this also happen if you load the same save immediately after running freeorion without starting a new game first?

    I have no idea why you'd be able to start a game but not load a game... the communication between the client and server should be quite similar in both cases.

    Yes it happen in every case : run + load ; run + play + load ; run + play + save + load
    And all my wine process use 100% of my CPU, i need to kill every process manually.

    I have no problem to play with freeorion.

    Just asking but why run it in Wine when you can simply run it in linux by compiling it? Seems like adding Wine to the mix is looking for trouble.

    Because it's really easier to run FreeOrion on wine than to compile it on Ubuntu.
    I try to compile FreeOrion on my Mint distribution. And I have a lot of trouble by linking boost with GG.
    And for the moment it's a big fail.

    Hi,
    I get something similar on MacOS X with test build 5517. When loading a game with a longer playing history, the screen just blanks out, and nothing is loaded. However it seems to not happen everytime. I have the suspicion that loading after a fresh boot of the complete machine works. Maybe related is also saving: Auto-saves work just fine but manually saving the game sometimes results in hanging.
