the apm configuration doesn't work for
usb devices. the devices will never go to sleep!

maybe "umass" or "atausb" is not implemented!?!?

    umass is included in kernel also as all required drivers. See http://freenas.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/freenas/branches/0.69/build/kernel-config/FREENAS-i386

    What USB devices are you using? An external USB-HDD? If yes, did you set APM and all the additional settings on 'Disks|Management|Disk|Edit' in the WebGUI?

    sorry! i'm using a brand new usb hard disk which
    supports apm. i've set the apm settings for this device.
    but it isn't working.

    and i'm using the lastest stable version of FN (0.69).

    Got the same problem using a USB attached Western Digital 1TB SATA II Caviar Green (IntelliPower / 32MB Cache) in a AC Ryan AluBox 3.5" - (USB 2.0 / eSATA / SATA/SATA II). No spindown.
