#471 UPnP Transcoding 0.69.4156 not working

Hi,

i noticed this also in RC2. The transcoding with fuppes does not work. I edited the fuppes file to enable mkv transcoding support but no chance. When i access fuppes from my ps3 the service crashes with 'exited on signal 6 (core dumped)'. It crashes when a mkv file is in the folder/database without playing it (it doesn't matter if transcoding is enabled or not). When i remove the mkv file and disable transcoding the supported files by Ps3 playes well.

I would like to help to fix this. So i can test, provide logs, etc.

Hello,
sorry but i can not do anything at this point because i do not have an PS3 or XBox for testing. Also transcoding is a really sensible thing with fuppes (and also mediatomb). If you want to get it working you do not come around to build your own freenas from scratch and try to optimize fuppes (but all required settings are done). In my eyes its a problem of fuppes, but here we can't do anything because it is on the side of the fuppes developers to fix that problem.

i think video transcoding will never work until the fuppes developers restart development and release a stable version.
