#372 rsync_client.log not a circular logfile

No

The rsync_client.log is not initialized as a circular logfile in /etc/rc. While using rsync, the log file will fill up the file system and as a result will lookup Samba with messages like 'Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service', 'smbd[3620]: tdb(/var/run/connections.tdb): expand_file to 24576 failed (No space left on device)', 'claim_connection: tdb_store failed with error IO Error.'

As I submitted "[ 1936192 ] Rsync client fills / with logs" (which is then fixed in http://freenas.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/freenas?view=rev&revision=3117), Volker added a checkbox for rsync to be quiet, which may solve your problem if your log is growing because of large file number.

Otherwise, I guess this should have preferably been filed as feature request.

    Hope it helps.

I'll try 0.69 as soon as it is out of beta and see if the default behavior is 'quiet'. If not, I'll add a feature request. I don't like the side effect of Samba crashing because rsync fills the filesystem, it is not dummy proof :-) And it is not consistent with the other log files.

    Marco.
