I'm now using FreeNAS 0.685b (built on Thu May 17 11:12:17 CEST 2007), and unfortunately still experiencing the disk spin-down issues as per my previous report.
However, otherwise it seems to be ok after some samba configuration changes which were required.
1). The Recycle Bin appears to be missing, and with it enabled, the share is unable to be utilised.
Running "smbd -b" and checking the LIBDIR variable, it points to /usr/local/lib. Checking in there, the vfs objects are missing (/vfs/recycle.so).
2). These missing vfs objects also appear to apply to the "Enable large read/write" and "Enable pipe-lined read support" options, as enabling either of these also causes failures.
3). Active Directory joining to a Linux Server (SME Server - Centos based) is still failing for me. I see the (aforementioned) errors of "Failed to create Administrators", "Failed to create Users", "Aborting IDMAP Initialization", "Could not get methods for backend rid"
I've also received the following: "cli_pipe_validate_current_pdu: RPC fault code DCERPC_FAULT_OP_RNG_ERROR received from remote machine"
I'll keep trying to figure out what the issue is, but for now (since I'm on a private internal network), I've simply removed all authentication requirements, and this appears to be working fine.
