Just some observations on the logo-that-will-not-die-issue:

First: I'm a terrible judge of these kinds of things, since I seem to like most of the offerings. Take what I say with that in mind.

As I've said before, I think there can be some value in having variations on the theme, but they need to be close enough so that the variation is still clearly identified with FreeMind. The Butterfly seems to be the most important element of the theme. In any variations, it has to be clearly recognizable as the FreeMind Butterfly, much as Tux is recognizable as the Linux Penguin.

Even if we don't want to change icons, there is some value in encouraging our supporters to create art based on our icon, banners and such, in order to help market FreeMind.

Thanks,
  Ray

Hi,

I agree with Dan's dislike. I'd go with
<http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Talk:Light_bulb_and_butterfly#New_idea_from_Butterfly_splash_designer>
or with
<http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Talk:Light_bulb_and_butterfly#Problem_with_the_lightbulb>.

The box-butterfly would fit me better if the butterfly itself would be a
bit more flashy/warm ... If we would get a consensus on the
box-butterfly, I would be happy to ask the author Marc Carson for it
(but not before).

Hi all,

as regards logotype, please make your own choices. I would not take the
logotype with black background and red-to-orange gradient shown at the
talk page.

Dan

    Hello everybody,

I have got a post from graphic designer willing to contribute to the

As nobody of the team has answered to the numerous suggestions the
designer wants to get the write access to this mailing list for starting
    the discussion.

IMHO the proposed versions are nice but not so warm as our current one.
But first of all I do not know whether you have time to discuss the
issue right now or after 0.9.0 is released.
