I remember testing out the different mind mapping alternatives some time ago, and begrudgingly settled for MindMapper because it was the only one that combined the features i needed with the streamlined ease of us i wanted, unfortunately it was a proprietary file format. The beta releases of Freemind have come a long way since the last stable release, and now has what i have needed all along, plus some really nice extra goodies which i find quite amazingly useful like HTML editing of nodes and notes, and the ultimate in streamlining features, CUSTOMISATION: customised behaviour, customised operability shortcuts, and the most time saving for me, customised node decoration shortcuts.

I have now ditched MindMapper, and switched to freemind. I now have a brilliant mind mapping tool that is open source and which i only hope will continue to get even better.
