Started using Freemind in 2006, and apart from organising my life, there are some great contexts to use it.

<1> Job interviews : great planning tool, and looks very professional to turn up with a printed mind map of the background research you've done and some probing questions to ask.

<2> Absolutely essential for planning seminars, presentations etc  Used to do it on paper but this is far better.

<3> now discovered the Export to Javascript, brilliant way of authoring web content to inform my colleagues, the navigation tree format lets me cram considerable information on one page but in a totally usable way.
The icons help to classify content and the external links to web resources invalable
I love the way the Export honours the state of the tree, i.e. it determines the initial state of the web page too.
