Can you please, please, digitally sign the Windows executable? Due to group security policies I am not allowed to use software that is not digitally signed, and that should be a simple procedure for you.
Besides this detail,it is a great software. Thanks.

I am just another user, not an author, but can reply on this topic:

    1. to make digital signature for Windows executable, author must have digital certificate from appropriate certification authority, which has it's expiry and costs money (because all CAs which windows has certs included for take money for developer's certificates).
    2. FreeMind is Java software, which means you don't have to run its executable to run FreeMind. But you must have Java Runtime Environment (javaw.exe usually) which will run FreeMind. If you don't have JRE, FreeMind won't work irrelevantly from presence of signature in freemind.exe. If you've got JRE (which will be strange in your case), run FreeMind with included .bat file or see how it can be run with proper association: https://sourceforge.net/projects/freemind/forums/forum/320014/topic/3948198
