When opening files from my network drive, FreeMind displays:
"java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI has an authority component".
The file path that triggers this error is \\challenger\Home201$\ppoorthu\Projects\WebCollect 6.4\WebCollect 6.4.mm
Opening the same file from a local drive works just fine (e.g. from d:\ or c:\)
Opening files from my network drive also used to work just fine in beta 16 and beta 17.
Environment: Windows XP
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, sharing)
A small correction to the post above: opening this particular file from the network also does not work in b17. It *does* work in b16 though.
I can confirm this issue, and there have also been many records in the bug tracker concerning it. The relevant changes have been introduced by Chris and I hope that he finally gives us some answer and fixes the problem.
See e.g. bug 1984395 Error opening files from network PCs in Windows, https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1984395&group_id=7118&atid=107118
