I have recently installed Freemind 0.9.0 RC 6 via Synaptic but find on running Freemind that it cannot get past the point where it says "Load Maps". The PC uses Ubuntu 10.04LTS.
Could anybody suggest what the problem may be?
the problem may be that 0.9.0.RC6 is outdated. Check http://eric.lavar.de/comp/linux/debrepo/ for a newer version (lucid/lts is foreseen).
Check also http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/FreeMind_on_Linux#Frequently_and_less_frequently_Asked_Questions
Specifically, I could imagine that you're facing http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/FreeMind_on_Linux#I_get_an_error_java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError_or_java.lang.NullPointerException_when_starting_FreeMind
Hope this helps,
Thank you for your response.
I have done a new installation following your instructions at http://eric.lavar.de/comp/linux/debrepo/ with the result that Freemind is now working.
