I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 and installed Freemind. Freemind worked very well until the latest update of Ubuntu to 10.10. Now freemind locks up as it loads the maps. The version of freemind is 0.9.0~rc7+dfsg-1 (freemind).
Can anyone help? Thank you.
I cannot directly help, as I do not have Ubuntu installed. This following page could help:
In particular, I would look at whether FreeMind uses Sun JRE (Java Runtime Environment) or some other sort of Java JRE (Java Runtime Environment).
Let me do some quick research. Search term: "Ubuntu to 10.10. java". I found the following post, which looks promising:
"Sun Java 6 on Ubuntu 10.04 10.10 and later", by Mike Christianson on Fri, 2010/07/23
Try to follow the instructions to install Sun Java. -Dan
I have Freemind 0.9.0~rc7+dfsg-1 and have just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 with no issues (i.e. didn't need to do anything). I have sun-java6-bin and sun-java6-jre packages installed. If you have them sinatlled you might try a Reinstallation.
