Probably because I am behind a conmpany firewall ~ where can I enter the proxy settings to allow the mapping tool (which, hopefully, can "see" the UK) to access the Internet. NB All the links in the main FreeMind program link tot he Internet properly. Regards Paul
my way to do this is to add the proxy settings to the freemind.bat start line as here:
Thanks for a quick reply Chris. I did as you suggested but FreeMind does not fire up ~ I get a brief DOS box (in my Windows XP OS) then nothing. I've anonymised the settings ~ is that what the .bat file should look like?
@echo off -java -Xmx256M -Xss8M -cp -Dhttp.proxyHost=10.xx.xx.1 -Dhttp.proxyPort=3xx8 -Dhttp.proxyUser=username -Dhttp.proxyPassword=userpassword lib\freemind.jar;lib\commons-lang-2.0.jar;lib\forms-1.0.5.jar;lib\jibx\jibx-run.jar;lib\jibx\xpp3.jar;lib\bindings.jar;lib\xalan.jar;lib\serializer.jar;lib\xml-apis.jar;lib\xercesImpl.jar;lib\jortho.jar freemind.main.FreeMindStarter
java -Xmx256M -Xss8M -Dhttp.proxyHost=10.xx.xx.1 -Dhttp.proxyPort=3xx8 -Dhttp.proxyUser=username -Dhttp.proxyPassword=userpassword -cp lib\freemind.jar;lib\commons-lang-2.0.jar;lib\forms-1.0.5.jar;lib\jibx\jibx-run.jar;lib\jibx\xpp3.jar;lib\bindings.jar;lib\xalan.jar;lib\serializer.jar;lib\xml-apis.jar;lib\xercesImpl.jar;lib\jortho.jar freemind.main.FreeMindStarter
But it may be, that your proxy needs more authentication. This requires Java changes, I did on my work. I'll try to port them to the official branch. But, please try anyway.
Thanks Chris ~ that fixed it and the map is running. Off now to do some playing :-)
the proxy settings are now part of the preferences. This is implemented in the current git repository and will be contained in the next beta (1.0.0 Beta6).
