In Beta 15. I cannot follow hyperlinks between maps if I have a new/unsaved map open in another tab.

In beta 16, the same is true if 'file mode' is being used.

    Hi,

what do you mean exactly with File mode? I can't reproduce the issue anymore with Beta16 (under Ubuntu).

    Hi,

When I was testing this again I got even more weird behaviour.

I mean links between maps. I open FM. My main map has links to other maps. I click some of these links and the maps open in new tabs.

I close all these maps except for my main map. I open file mode. This opens in a new tab. Back on my main map I click my links. No response.

I close file mode. The links work again.

But now more weird behaviour: I click a link, the map open in a new tab. I open file mode (in my second tab). *The whole FM screen goes white*. Not like a new map, just white -- my default background isn't even white.

I then click on another tab and I can see my map again, but file mode isn't open.

Tried this a few times. When I have one map open I can't follow links. When I have two open I get the white screen when I try and open file mode.

    Hi,

I confirmed the last report from Ryan, though he's actually describing two (possibly independent) issues (to which I add a 3rd one):

    1. clicking on a link to a .mm file fails if a "File" tab is active, with the following exception:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at java.net.URLStreamHandler.sameFile(URLStreamHandler.java:370)
    at java.net.URL.sameFile(URL.java:871)
    at freemind.controller.MapModuleManager.checkIfFileIsAlreadyOpened(MapModuleManager.java:215)
    at freemind.modes.ControllerAdapter.loadURL(ControllerAdapter.java:407)
    at freemind.modes.mindmapmode.MindMapController.loadURL(MindMapController.java:1604)
    at freemind.modes.ControllerAdapter.loadURL(ControllerAdapter.java:1238)
    [...]
(I assume that checkIfFileIsAlreadyOpened can't cope with "File" maps)

    2. opening the "File" mode, then closing it, then opening it again leads to a blank screen and no "File" tab is opened, without any error message or exception.

    3. And I add a 3rd one: the Browse mode doesn't work at all, it only shows a blank screen.

Conclusion: something seems really broken with the Modes and needs to be fixed before version 0.9.0 can be released. Hence I set the priority to 7.

    Hi again,

browse mode is a different thing. In my version, it works, if you open a map. Otherwise it is a bit strange...

The issue I reported is fixed on Mepis 7. But other issues are mentioned here. I'm closing this one and opening two separate issues.
