I am using the most recent beta of freemind 0.9.0 beta 15, and using JRE 6 Update 3 on Windows XP SP2. There seems to be some buggyness as it has a huge footprint and the Virtual Size will get nearly a gigabyte in size after being left open and idle for only a few min. There is a serious redraw problem where it will take 30-60 seconds to redraw freemind on focus or restoring from being minimized. There is also extremely horrible lag from using mouse scroll, it seems to take on mind of it own, and will continue to scroll if i give focus to another application.

I have already done both memory and cpu profiling for freemind 0.9.0 beta 13 in windows 2000 and have not seen the problems you are reporting. All results are comparable with those for 0.8.0 .

Could you please describe your hardware (cpu, memory) and submit an example map.

    Dimitry

I have a Core 2 Duo 2.16gz with 2GB RAM. If there is any additional specific information about my system you require, please let me know.

Thank you for your fantastic work! I really really love Freemind, I have tried other mind mapping software but nothing else works how id like it to. I appreciate the new features in the beta such as the ability to add notes and such, now that its there i cannot go back to 0.8.0 :). I realize 0.9.0 is in beta but the redraw and mouse scroll lag are a very hard to work with, the mouse scroll problem especially.

I am sending along a simpls map with which i have experienced problems with freemind eating resources on my machine, although this doesnt seem to be as severe every time its open.

I have downloaded your map and opened it using the "standard" freemind 0.9.0 beta 15. I have a slower computer than you, but I could not see any problems with it.

I have been trying to reproduce it, although its still being a hog its not the most severe i have seen it. Here is a screen cap with some data of that map open and idle after 3 min of having freemind open. the only action in freemind i did was scroll the length of the map with mouse scroll twice, while experiencing the lag i noticed my cpu usage jump as as high as 41%.

    Hello,

I have compared 0.8.0 and 0.9.0 beta 15 under JRE 6 update 2 and Windows 2000 using your map. I did not run the profiler but just compared information from the process explorer.

    I have got following results:

    1. 0.9.0 consumes less memory than 0.8.0,
    2. 0.9.0 uses less processor resources during scrolling.

I have never experienced any problems with the redraw, your map comes without any delay if I restore the freemind window.

    Cheers, Dimitry

Is it possible there are other programs running that might be contributing to the problem? I know you probably checked that, but it never hurts to ask.
