Hi,
I love freemind but have been losing data due to this error for over a year. I will be moving a node and for some reason I get a popup window that says "Can't move a node to one of its children". see here: https://imgur.com/a/eYtxx
I can't click the ok button. I have also noticed backups are no longer saved, so presumably the app has crashed. The only solution I have ever found is to force the app to shut down and then restart, losing any data I had entered prior to my last save.
I have lost a considerable amount of data due to this bug and would be very happy if it could be fixed. I'm on a Mac OS Sierra V 10.12.6, Java 8, Update 71. I've reinstalled both Java and freemind, and found no solution.

Hi,
in that case, a log file would definitively help very much. Can you provide one of such a crash, please?
TIA, Chris
The crash happened at 1:17pm today, I don't see logs from that exact time, but this is just after. This crash only happens every few months; when it does it is catastrophic. If it happened more frequently I would have switched to another mapping app. So, getting another copy of the logs will take some time. Meanwhile, if you have some fixes I can try, I'd be glad to.
Hi, the log file contains no special things. Perhaps, there is an older log file with more information according to that time? You log file starts at Dec 27, 2017 1:57:44 PM, which seems to late.
BR, Chris
Thats the best I have right now. When it happens again, I'll post an update, but it may take a while. Thanks for responding.
Thanks for the update. Unfortunately I had to stop using freemind and switch to an alternative mind mapping tool. Hopefully this problem is resolved eventually.
