#1203 Latex plugin in FM version 1.0.1

Freemind Version: 1.0.1
OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1(32-bit)
Java version: 1.6 update 18

Bug: The Latex plugins (both the HotEqn version from an earlier version of FM, and the jLatexMath version) do not work in FM 1.0.1. The menu item shows up in the Insert menu, but clicking on it doesn't do anything. Also, Freemind will not render the Latex equation if it's already in the .mm file.

the latex-plugin will not be continued due to its incompatible license.

I recall years ago that there was a problem with the HotEqn licensing, which I think was the reason HotEqn based Latex was pulled from FreeMind, but it appears that jLatexMath by Alxa (https://github.com/Alxa/LaTeXMath-Freemind-Plugin) uses the GNU GPLv2+ license, which appears to be compatible with FreeMind (from my simple point of view... I don't really understand licensing all that well).

If it's true that jLatexMath is compatible, then what would it take to get that plugin added to FreeMind?

Similarly, why is it that I can make these plugins work with 0.9.0, but 1.0.1 refuses to run these plugins? Was something compiled into the main application that specifically prevents both Latex plugins? Or was something changed with the plugin interface that causes these plugins to no longer work?

Honestly, I like FreeMind better than FreePlane (which supports the jLatexMath plugin), and would rather not be forced to switch, or be forced to remain at v0.9.0.

the interface must have been changed. Do you have a log file when trying to use the plugin in 1.0.1, please.
    TIA, Chris

PS: How many people use the latex plugin? Could I please have some more votes?

Thanks for looking into this further. Attached are 2 log files, one from v1.0.1, and one from 0.9.0. I attempted to send these directly to you, but I'm posting them here, just in case that email got thrown away. Here's what I did in FM when generating the log files:

    1. open a very small MM file (latex_test.mm), which has a root node (“Latex Test”), and 1 child node (“Latex Node”)
    2. try to insert a latex equation using Insert  Latex
    3. close the MM file

Let me know if I can provide anything else.

and here's the 0.9.0 log file...

I am using this plugin, too.
And since the update from 0.9.0 to 1.0.1 (Linux) it is no longer working.
I have the same symptoms as mentioned above.
    Best regards,
