As i only use the tray icon can you hide freemeter from
explorer? If i switch accidently to freemeter the
desktop meter is shown regardless the the setting to
disable the desktop meter

    flizebogen,

With the desktop meter hidden, on my computers, it doesnt
show up in the alt+tab dialog. This is with the default
alt+tab dialog built into Windows XP (SP2). What version of
Windows are you using? and Have you maybe installed
something that changes its alt+tab behavior?

I'm using Windows XP with SP2 too.

If i select the desktop meter and close it's window than fm
    isn't visible in alt+tab anymore.

On this Computer i don't use any alt+tab enhancements.
I use the most current version of fm (1.3.2401)

    Behaviour (build 1.5.2873) on Vista:
FM visible = FM is via Alt+Tab visible + selectable, but not via Flip3D
FM hidden in systray = FM does not appear in Alt+Tab not Flip3D
