When I try to start freemat4.2 I get the error "strerror_s" not found in "msvcrt.dll". What can I do?

I have the same. Installed 32 bit version on Windows XP Pro. The 64 bit starts fine on Windows 7 Pro.

Is this a Windows XP specific problem? It seems to work on Win 7.

Yes, the 32 bit installation file has this problem on 32 bit Windows XP Professional.

The 64 bit installation file works fine on 64 bit Windows 7 Professional.

I didn't try other combinations.

OK - I can at least reproduce the problem on my Windows XP VM. Let me see if I can figure it out.

Just an update - it appears to be caused by a dependency on a Windows function that is missing in Windows XP. One question - can you try installing the microsoft runtime here:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328

I'm not sure it will solve the problem, but it may be worth a try.

  It had been installed already before I installed 32 bit package. So I think it won't solve the problem.
