Yes, sorry, forgot to mention it. It's Ubuntu breezy out-of-the-box
with means Gnome + Metacity 2.12.1

I will test with another window manager tonight. But as I mentioned,
SDL's resolution switching works ok. It might be interesting to
borrow some code from SDL here...
