I am new to freeglut and I am trying to build my first application using the
library. When I create a executable for the demo program "fractals.c", no
graphics window appears.
I am compiling on a Windows XP box using Visual Studio 6.0.
I created a freeglut STATIC library by defining FREEGLUT_STATIC in a library
project. The library built with no errors.
I created a "WIN32 console app" project and included fractals.c,
freeglut_static.lib, openGL32.lib, & GLU32.lib. The executable builds with
When I run the program, no graphics window appears.
I debugged the program and an openGL error is being generated somewhere in
glutInit(&argc, argv); If after returning from this call, I put the line ---
printf("gl error = %d\n", glGetError() );
it prints 1282, which is 0x502, which is a GL_INVALID_OPERATION error.
Can anyone help me with this?

I tested this with on Windows XP, I am using VS .net 2003 compiler
(VC++ 7.1 compiler), but I strongly suspect that does no difference
compared to VC++ 6.0.
For me the fractals program is working fine.
What graphics card do you have, and have you installed
drivers for it?
Do other OpenGL applications work?
(I am not sure what happens on Windows XP with no drivers installed,
does that mean no hardware accel for OpenGL or no OpenGL at all?)
