I can build the Windows VC6 binary zip. (Nate and I used to work together some 15 years ago, so it'll be good to ping him and see how he's doing.) (Re: the line ending issue and Cygwin "tar -xzf"... I seem to recall Cygwin has an installation option to select for preferred line ending, which might help me with this issue. Anyhow, I agree with Sven, a zip release for Windows users would avoid the issue entirely.) VC6 builds preferred, I think... Hello again, I'd like to announce the updated version of my MPX patch for FreeGLUT, available here: http://tisch.sourceforge.net/freeglut-mpx-2.6.0.patch I've tested it against the current RC and it works fine. If you don't have XInput2 installed, configure should detect that and the MPX-related part won't be built. I hope somebody can make use of this, too :-) Yours, Florian |

The RC works fine for me on OpenWatcom if the following changes are made: * delete freeglut.tgt, freeglut_static.tgt and freeglut.wpj in /trunk/freeglut/freeglut (they're not in the right directory structure so don't work anyway) * add freeglut_watcom.zip (<6Kb) to /trunk/freeglut/freeglut (contains the .tgt and .wpj files in the right directory structure) * add Makefile.wat (<7Kb) to /trunk/freeglut/freeglut * apply patch freeglut_watcom_README_win32.patch (<3Kb) to /trunk/freeglut/freeglut/README.win32 Is it too late to get these included in 2.6? I haven't attached the new files or patch to this email, so let me know if you want to include them and I'll email them direct to whoever may apply these changes. Regards, Paul |

I had no problems with the DOS/*nix line endings in the ".dsw" and ".dsp" files on my Windows system. I downloaded the release candidate on a Windows system and used the Windows "winzip" utility to unzip and untar the file. Paul notes in a later missive that he used a Linux utility to untar the file and I think that makes the difference. The fact that there's only one "smooth_opengl3" demo is because the guy who made it only made the one project. I made two separate project files for the demos because I wanted a version of each that ran the DLL and a version of each that linked statically. It's not a reason to hold up the release. - John -----Original Message----- From: Steve Baker Sent: Tuesday, April 21, 2009 7:29 PM To: FreeGLUT developers list Cc: johnffay@... That suggests that they are not checked into the repository as binary files - which they need to be because Windows cares about the CR/LF conventions on those formats (God knows why - they are perfectly happy with Unix-style line endings in every other text file they handle!) > 2. I wonder if the dsw/dsp issue could've been caused during extraction from the tar.gz. I used Cygwin "tar -xzf" to extract; could it have possible converted the line endings to Unix-style during extraction?
