Windows is going to be a bit of a problem.  There isn't anything in the Windows header file about a spaceball or anything with dials.  All the same, I would advocate putting what we have into "freeglut" with the proviso that if somebody wants it to work under Windows he will have to help us implement it.  (Once we know what the events are and what they mean, putting them in is easy; the hard part is finding the spaceball attached to a Windows platform.)
