Some of these changes look like interesting candidates for merging, but they need to be discussed, which would be much easier if you submitted a ticket for each one of them separately, rather than all of them together.
Also, the best place for feature suggestions is really the freeglut-developer mailing list. I suggest you post there with your changes. They'll be picked up faster that way.
Also, if you decide prepare patches for each feature, please use the current svn head instead of a release as the starting point, so that the patches will apply cleanly without need for manual modification. Also some of your issues might be solved in SVN already.

your comments are flattering, but I’m not that smart. I don‘t code.
I’m only a MuPDF user that faces a change in the library (FreeGLUT replacing GLFW in the latest 1.12-rc1 version) and these changes are essential for the searching functionality (with non-ascii characters).
Sorry, but I’m afraid I cannot discuss anything on these improvements.
You asked me what was wrong with this issue tracking system. Only one feature: in GitHub, the person who reports the issue can always close it 😊.
Sorry for not being more helpful,
Pablo

You'll be happy to hear that the author of these changes is actively discussing them himself with us on our mailing list. So we'll be dealing with them.
Thanks for pointing us there.
Cheers,
Dee
