#188 init.gz from 0.30 slow deployment to IDE drives

Since upgrading to 0.30, deployment to desktops or laptops with IDE hard drives went from 1GiB/min to 60MiB/min.
Rolled back init.gz to the copy from 0.29 and performance is back to what it used to be.
Issue with IDE/PATA drivers/modules inside the init.gz?
