I have smptmail 5.8 running under Progress 9.1E on
Linux pl4501 2.6.9-5.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jan 5 19:30:39 EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux. Mail server is Lotus Domino Release 6.5.1.
Every now and then, after the message in socketemail.log "Socket Connection Established", smtpmail hangs in the wait-for. After a while smtpmail ends with the nok flag = NO but smtp errmsg = "".
I used tcpdump with the "ip host" option to see which messages are exchanged in such an sending attempt and it appears that the mail server sends an RESET CONNECTION flag back (TCP is not my field of expertise so please correct me if I talk nonsense).
Last line in tcpdump file (from mailserver to smtpmail) is:
14:34:39.784211 IP hwk2003-1.smtp > pl4501.54546: R 490350564:490350564(0) win 0
Why does smtpmail hang after this response?
