FDM i.e Free Download Manager is a java API,which is very simple to use.
It have

1. Any time resume capability (if host server support resume).
2. Have got it's own database.
3. Multi Threading is used to download which support "RANGE: " header.
4. Non Range header download also supported with no resume capability.
5. Http,Https,Ftp are supported.
