Hi Bernd,
First of all, thank you very much for making this driver available. I
use it as freecom is not willing to give me professional support on
OSX for my portable II.
I use a dual 450Mhz G4 (10.1.5) and I discovered a big problem.
After I installed the driver, It’s no longer possible to start Classic.
Even with extensions switched off it will not start but will wait
forever at the end of the startup procedure. After a forced quit on
Classic I found that the finder became unstable and I had to force
quit this program also. For some reason this did not succeed and I
ended up with a total blue screen without a window or an icon and
without the dock. Finally I had to reset my machine.

Can you please give me at least a clue on how to disable the driver
as I’m using my Classic environment more often then I use my
Portable II. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Ruud,

    to disable the driver:
    open the Terminal.app
type "cd /System/Library/Extensions" (without the quotes)
type "sudo mv FreecomTravellerUSBDriver.kext FreecomTravellerUSBDriver.kext.off" (you will be asked for your password)

    to enable it:
    open the Terminal.app
type "cd /System/Library/Extensions" (without the quotes)
type "sudo mv FreecomTravellerUSBDriver.kext.off FreecomTravellerUSBDriver.kext" (you will be asked for your password)

    to remove it:
    open the Terminal.app
type "cd /System/Library/Extensions" (without the quotes)
type "sudo rm -rf FreecomTravellerUSBDriver.kext" (you will be asked for your password)

You'll have to restart to apply the changes above.

But I doubt that your problems are caused by the driver. First, because I've never heard of a similar problem. Second, because the driver is NOT loaded unless the Freecom is plugged in and powered up. The MacOS X kernel unloads drivers when they are not in use, so unplugging the device leads to unloading the driver after max. a few minutes.

    Hope this helps,
    Bernd

    Hi Bernd,
Thanks for your quick reaction. I checked your reaction and can confirm
that after unloading the CD from my portable II, classic is able to start
without a problem. Once a cd is loaded the problem is back. Yesterday I
had my first kernal panic since months while trying to force quit on the
finder app. The good news is that I was able to burn my first CD from
    OSX yesterday.

    Regards, Ruud
