You can set it in the freddy.conf file. The "Set Font..." tool is for finding out the properties of the desired font. It doesn't work as a config tool. Freddy doesn't have a configuration tool yet. But I'm working on it, it is on of my next tasks.
The second problem is corrected in version 0.55.
