I tried out frant and thnigs went OK.
The downloaded file contained my latest track but also courses and waypoints.
A couple of waypoints are delivered in the unit for Garmin Europe and Taiwan. I uploaded the frant.gpx file to GPSies to view this.

Would there be a way to command-line option ways to download all, courses only, waypoints only, activities only, or latest activity?

  Yes, I think that I will make it in the near future. Besides, I am going to
  make possibility of uploading of tracks and waypoints to the device.
