Image size is currently limited by video memory. By splitting too-large images into multiple renderable chunks and combining them afterwards, this limit is removed. This is doable manually if some overlap is used, but automatic splitting for an overnight run would be fantastic. Without rendering by chunks, a 1 GB graphics card can't make images suitable for triple-screen desktop wallpapers, or for large prints.
