A new version of FPM has been released. Changes include the ability to use different fpm data files and some changes to allow the code to compile on FreeBSD and Solaris systems. |

FPM 0.59 has been released. This release contains bug fixes and some enhancements. The main enhancement is the ability to import gpasman files. I also would like to welcome Manuel Estrada Sainz as a new developer on the project. |

I'd like to chime in to publicly welcome Joe Lesko as co-maintainer of FPM. As many of you know, Figaro's Password Manager hasn't had much attention in the last few years. Joe has brought the project back to life, fixing a critical bug and adding several features that have been in demand for a long time. Thanks, Joe! John -----Original Message----- From: fpm...@li... [mailto:fpm...@li...] On Behalf Of Joe Sent: Friday, October 17, 2003 10:42 PM To: fpm...@li... Subject: [FPM-Announce]FPM 0.58 I just put a new release of FPM on Source Forge. Make a backup copy of your current fpm files before running this version. When you run 0.58, the XML file will be updated with a new format that will allow passwords to be a max of 255 characters vs the 24 character limit of prior versions. There is also an import function for those who wish to import into FPM. The import function uses a simple tab delimited format. I added a lock function that will prevent more than one instance of FPM from running on the same system for the same user. Fixed a bug when the max password length was reached for a password. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email sponsored by: Enterprise Linux Forum Conference & Expo The Event For Linux Datacenter Solutions & Strategies in The Enterprise Linux in the Boardroom; in the Front Office; & in the Server Room http://www.enterpriselinuxforum.com _______________________________________________ FPM-announce mailing list FPM...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fpm-announce |

After a long period of time without much attention, Figaro's Password Manager is finally getting a little more development attention! Joe Lesko <jo...@na...> has contributed the contents of 0.56. It includes: 1) A critical patch to the passcode changing code. Previously there was a bug which could cause the password file to become corrupt in some cases when the passcode was changed. 2) A plaintext export menu option. Obviously, use care if using this option. Cheers, John Conneely http://fpm.sf.net/ |

Thanks for your interest in Figaro's Password Manager. You've received this email because you belonged to my old FPM-announce email list. FPM is now hosted by source forge. In addition to this mailing list, our website is now at http://fpm.sourceforge.net/. CVS access is also available; see our source forge project page at http://sourceforge.net/projects/fpm/. This email list will be aimed at end users of fpm. I'll use it for announcing new versions, etc. An fpm-devel email list is also available for those interested in contributing to FPM. We are currently in the middle of designing what looks like a major rewrite of FPM. Although much of the gnome-gui will remain the same, internally we are rewriting many of the core data handling routines. The new version will have: - Greater separation between the core data functions of FPM and the GUI. This will make it easier for others to use the code with other user interfaces (such as a text based program) or for writing utilities such as conduits to Palm handhelds. - File locking and sync logic that allow multiple people to share password files. - The ability to export, import and sync password lists together. - Increased security by preventing core dumps and virtual memory pageouts. If you are interested in contributing to FPM or have ideas that might affect the design of the project, I invite you to join the fpm-devel email list. Either follow the link from our website, or go to http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/fpm-devel. Thanks! John Conneely http://fpm.sourceforge.net |
