#2 Make backend cross-platform

You are already going to split up the code to have
greater separation between encryption backend and GUI
frontend.

The logical and desirable next step would be to make
the backend cross-platform compatible. This allows even
greater flexibility in usingit. Not just for palm conduits or
text mode, but also for FreeBSD/BeOS/Windows/Mac.
Other people can then write their own frontends for those
platforms.
