Ok, here we go: We've taken the last state of fosdem-schedule, imported it into our svn repo, improved the multi-conference functionality and polished a few other bits, and here it is: http://www.toastfreeware.priv.at/confclerk/ Available from svn, as a source tarball, and as binary packages for maemo5 (extras-devel) and Debian (unstable). We're looking forward to all kinds of comments, suggestions, bug reports, and patches! Cheers, gregor -- .''`. Hi Gregor, My understanding of current situation is that there are no plans for further development of the application from our side. If you find time to improve the application and/or use it for some other conferences, it will be just fine and I/we will be really happy that the project is still ongoing. If someone else from the group of interested people has something to say, please do it now. Thank you. Luckily the multi-connference menu allows to import other schedule xmls too, and it basically works for the CCC and DebConf calendars. - Therefore I'd like to see the tool (maybe renamed?) in the official Debian and Maemo repositories, and I'd happily upload it. Unfortunately the conferences code path has some bugs when actually used with more than one conference, and there are still some FOSDEM (2010) specific parts. Therefore I wanted to ask about the state and future of the project. Is it still developped at Ixonos? Would you like to get detailed bug reports, proposals for changes, patches? Are you interested in additional developers? - I'm open for all possibilities :) If you don't have time or interest in the project anymore, that's also no problem; in this case I'd say "Thank you" for the great codebase and would try to develop it further with a friend. I have added some support custom maps for different conferences. Now it can read the information from database, if someone put it there. New fields: * conference.map for path to image of conference map * room.picture (already existing before, but non-functional) for path to the image files for each room Implemented: * If the fiends contains path, behaviour is like earlier. The path may refer to resource or file on filesystem (or even http? did not check), QFile magic will handle this, * If the field contains NULL or empty string, the "compass" icon is not drawn, * for default FOSDEM 2010 database, the path are written in default database, * when new conference is imported, the fields are empty. So, this is not very useful out of the box, but at least there can be a script that will install the pictures for some conference. Also, it would be nice to introduce entity "site", to avoid problems when there are 2 different rooms with same names. It is different from "conference", because in theory there can be several conferences in one place. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can continue with this, because I'm starting a project tomorrow. -- Maksim Kirillov |

Hi. I have committed the conference editing features. No big changes in GUI, just added buttons for operations. Changes in GUI is still needed. I think, the conference operations should go to menu. I suppose, it is something that not often interesting to user. And there is very little space in tab bar for all tabs. Then, there is still little space for items, probably it will be good to remove more things. Just a list of quick thoughts: 1. remove the tab bar, placing instead of it a button with one-level menu in upper left corner. There is a big space used for date changer, I think it's too big for only a date changer. 2. use fullscreen mode from OS 3. use portrait mode. There are a lot of short strings in entries description, so screen space will be more effectively used. -- Maksim Kirillov mobile +358 43 826 57 56 email: mak...@ix... http://www.ixonos.com |

I have installed a new qt4.6 (4.6.2~git20100310-0maemo1+0m5) and discovered several ugly effects: 1. some black objects over the conference bar. They turn out to be a scroll buttons. In desktop, the scroll buttons also have some gap between them, but at least it's clear that they are scroll buttons. 2. group contents partially closes group title. I also saw the same effect in the event description, but could not save a screenshot. I could not send screenshots here and made an entry in the sourceforge tracker: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2986993&group_id=284409&atid=1205713 I suppose both of the effects are caused by bugs in the default style. When I change the style with '-style' option, they are not reproduced. If I choose the "gtk" style, the application even have the familiar n900 look, and does not have the described bugs. There is also a problem with the default style - everything is very large. Font, padding in control and so on. The application does not fit in the screen sometimes (for example, the "conferences" tab). Even gtk style (which have n900-look) is smaller. I'm not sure if it worth to be fixing these issues now. Probably in some short time there will be a new release of qt, where default style will be better. -- Maksim Kirillov |

Hi. I started hacking the fosdem-maemo and have several questions. I know there was a question about not full support of pentabarf format. I checked several conferences, they all look ok. I already cloned pentabarf sources, but maybe somebody already looked at it deeper and have examples of documents that cause problems or otherwise knows about some issues? It would be nice to know about it. Or probably it's already fixed and there is nothing to do? Then, to make the application more general, there must be a possibility to use other conferences without changing hardcoded values. This requires some redesign of the conference tab. I'm not very strong in GUI design, so I'm asking to help me with ideas how to make it. Basically, users should be able to do the following things with the application: * have a separate schedule URL for each conference * refresh the existing conference schedule * get a new conference by entering URL * change of the URL for an existing conference; run refresh together with it is ok and even justified by usability, but it must not loose this change if network not available or refresh is not done by some other reason. So it cannot be done as "do like previous one and rely on REPLACE". BTW, there is a new qt4.6 for maemo, and it supports the nice n900 window menus, something probably should go there. Thanks, have a nice weekend -- Maksim Kirillov |

hello, >> do i understand it correctly that the 'day view' contains _all_ talks >> in all devrooms/lightningrooms/maintracks etc? yes, exactly - day view contains all events from that day, grouped by certain time slot (all events which starts in that time slot) >> so i'll go over them all, favorite all the ones i like and then, using >> the favorites tab, i can see where i need to go :) The purpose of 'favourites' tab is that once you have go through the events in day view, you can mark the ones you like as 'favourite', so next time you don't have to go through the whole list of events that are in day view, but you can see your favourities >> I see the app comes with alarm features etc. does this integrate with >> the maemo calendar/alarm app or is it separate? >> how does the alarm feature work? when i click on alarms i don't see >> anything changing? The alarm icon is connected to libalarm/alarmd, so once you click the alarm icon, it is added to alarmd, which in results trigers alarm dialog 15 minutes before start of the event. You can also remove alarm from the queue. The app doesn't have separate view to display all your alarms. >> what happens when you do "import schedule"? should we keep our hands >> off? or will it somehow merge changes in? The application itselfs comes with preparsed xml schedule, so you don't have to parse xml schedule by itself, but it is possible. The DB is stored in ~/.fosdem/fosdem.sqlite. If this file doesn't exist, app copies that file from it's resource. If you press 'Import schedule' you can select newer version of the schedule (you can download it from the web), and update fosdem.sqlite DB, or you can press 'Online' button, in which case the schedule will be downloaded automatically and subsequently parsed and fosdem.sqlite gets updated. ________________________________________ Od: Dieter Plaetinck [di...@pl...] Odoslané: 4. februára 2010 20:19 Komu: fosdem-maemo Predmet: Re: [Fosdem-maemo-devel] first release available On Thu, 4 Feb 2010 11:58:38 +0100 Matus Uzak <mat...@ix...> wrote: > Hi, > > great, I have tested the package for Diablo on N810 yesterday and it > works. Hi all, Hmm... I have new project since Monday, Martin Komara and Monika Berendova since 2.1. 2010. Francisco is on vacation ( should also travel to Oulu, not sure yet).... It seems that nobody is free. Did you mean admin rigths at sourceforge? I have admin rights there... We can talk tomorow about the speed of the application. However admin rights are required to access the file manager, can somebody take care of this. btw. This is going to be only the first release available at sourceforge. We should manage this better next time. The functionality seems ok, but the application is still really slow. The situation here is following: Pavol Pavelka is gone preparing for his trip to Oulu. Me, Matus Hanzes and Pavol Korinek are fully occupied by our actual project. Marek Timko is on vacation I think. Francisco Fortes Martin Komara Marek Timko Monika Berendova Is someone of you still free and able to finish this? :) br, matus -- Matus Uzak Software Designer Ixonos Slovakia s.r.o. ------- Forwarded message ------- From: "gregor herrmann" <gr...@de...> To: "Uzak Matus" <mat...@ix...> Cc: Subject: fosdem-schedule Date: Sat, 30 Jan 2010 03:21:00 +0100 Hi, I've created a Debian package for fosdem-schedule from fosdem-maemo's trunk today, because I wanted to see if I can use it on my Openmoko Freerunner (which runs Debian) -- and it works! Nice stuff indeed. I'm happy to make the package publically available, there's just one thing I'm a bit uncertain about: there are quite a few images in the repo (the icons and the maps), and I can't find any copyright/license statements for them anywhere. Could you maybe add somewhere (the empty README would be a good place :)) a list with copyright holders and licenses for all third-party files? Thanks for writing this nice tool! Cheers, gregor, looking forward to FOSDEM and to using an electronic schedule in his pocket :) -- Matus Uzak Software Designer Ixonos Slovakia s.r.o.
