They are highly inefficient. Let's say I get an email about a new post. In order to reply, I have to login to sf.net, find the formfaces project, and click through to find the forum message. To top it off, all I get is a simple text box without any ability to automatically quote someone's message. If it were a mailing list, then all I would have to do is click Reply in my email client and I would get automatic quoting and a much better editor.
What do people think about starting a google group?

No, you're right. I missed that link the last time I went to respond.
But as you said, the forums are still pretty bad. What do you think about using Google Groups? It will be a mailing list and also have a web interface as well.

All my e-mails include a direct link to the forum post. Do you not get that in yours?
I do agree, though. I'm not a big fan of the SourceForge forums. They're particularly bad for posting code, ironically.
