#770 Forum submissions via email go to /dev/null

No

Apparently the forum system ignores submissions via email. I don't really need them, but they are offered at the top of the forum and users try to use the feature. I've just tried to send an email to my project's forum and nothing happened. No email came back. The message didn't show up in the forum. It's not in the moderation queue either. Project administrator (myself) received no email notification either. The submitted forum post simply vanished.

I have now received via email my own submission. It still doesn't show up in the forum though.

It seems that posts submitted via web interface vanish too. They do appear in moderation queue, but they disappear when approved. One message from one of my users did just that right now. At least I get a notification about the message when it is submitted via web interface. The forum is completely useless as it is now. Maybe it has something to do with recent upgrade of my project (SourceAFIS)?

    Hello,

We do have a ticket open already about the delay for posts submitted by email (which seems to have appeared since your last comment): [allura:tickets:#4013]

As for the disappearing post from the web interface, could you elaborate on this? I tried a few posts on my test project and I didn't have any issues.

    Thanks,

Yes, indeed, my own test posting did appear eventually, but another posting by someone else never appeared in the forum even after I approved it in moderation queue.

I've got a moderation request on Thursday 2012-09-27 21:48 UTC (i.e. 3 days ago) for project SourceAFIS, forum Open Discussion. I've approved the new forum topic with little delay (a few hours perhaps). Sender of the moderation email was user aarsla with account on users.sf.net, i.e. a logged-in user. The message has immediately disappeared from moderation queue, but it didn't show up in the forum. 3 days later, I still cannot find the message in either the forum or the moderation queue, even if I set filter to status = Any. With that filter, I see all the old messages posted before upgrade, but I don't see the new post that arrived after upgrade.

I've tried to reply to the phantom topic described in my comment above in hope it would bring the topic into the main topic list. My reply was ignored completely. No error was reported. My response simply disappeared.

Okay, so, it looks like the post is actually on the thread list, but at the very bottom of the page, not the top. Your reply is nowhere to be seen though, despite the thread view showing two posts. I'm escalating this issue to our engineering team here: [allura:tickets:#5028]
