#4348 Mailing lists deleted

Mailing lists of the opensaf project appear deleted.

The opensaf project has four mailing lists: opensaf-devel, opensaf-users, opensaf-tlc-members and opensaf-tickets. The first three mailing lists were deleted a few months ago, and new lists were created with the same names.

Now it appears that all the new lists that were re-created have also been deleted. When I try to change the visibility of those lists I get the error message "We're sorry but we weren't able to process this request."

No, I don't think that is the problem. On the mailing list admin page, the lists have changed name to deleted-xxxxx.

Last Friday I created the new mailing list opensaf-tickets. I think the problems may have started at that time, since the mailing list archives have not been updated since Friday even though I have been receiving mails from the mailing lists until now.

I would like the opensaf project to have the following mailing lists:

    opensaf-devel
    opensaf-users
    opensaf-tlc-members
    opensaf-tickets

Please try to restore the mailing lists so that we keep the mailing list archives from the last couple of monts. The old (original) mailing lists archives that are several years old are not important.

As I've stated in IRC, I've uncovered the bug that caused the newer mailing lists to get deleted.

Basically, what happens with this bug is that if you have a deleted list, when you click "save" to change visibility settings, it'll send a new delete request for the already deleted list, and if you have a new list with the same name as the old deleted one, it'll end up deleting the new one.

As such, I'm consulting with the team with how we want to approach this, I don't personally think it's really safe trying to restore the lists until this bug is sorted out, since a stray click could just make even more of a mess to deal with. In any case, I'll see what I can come up with and let you know.

    Regards,

I have re-created the mailing lists that disappeared, so the immediate problem is solved now. If possible, please transfer the mailing list archives to the new lists.

Also, it seems that the mailing list archives are no longer being updated with new mais. This problem applies to all our lists.

    Hello,
Durning a ticket review process I saw this ticket, so I apologize for the delay in my reply to this ticket. I think this is an old issue that has already been taken care of if I'm mistaken please let me know and I will take another look into your situation.
    Thanks
