Hi,
I'd like to report an ongoing problem I've had, by now, for months (actually more than a year). I have a project ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/lineageos-for-mata ) whose releases are zip files, of size ~800 MB. Downloading them is very slow, and takes at least 15 minutes, (usually 20 or 25), with speeds in the order of a few hundreds of kilobytes per second (almost never above 500 kbit/s), which is obviously very slow.
It seems to me that the files are not mirrored anywhere else, as SF only offers the option to download them from San Diego, California, US.
I also have got a similar project ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/lineageos-for-bacon/ ) that is unaffected by this issue. Its releases are mirrored on a multitude of servers, and the one that is automatically chosen for me (located in Austria) is very fast (when downloading from it, my home connection becomes the bottleneck). This second project attracts slightly more traffic than the first one (although the numbers are low for both of them).
Is there any chance we can improve the situation for the first project?
Thank you in advance.
Hello,
Our mirror strategy is based on popularity.
Files that are frequently accessed and downloaded are stored on more mirrors to ensure speedy and reliable delivery to users. However, less popular files are stored on fewer mirrors or only on our main server.
By the way, the slow download speed you mentioned is probably due to distance, as I'm getting download speeds of over 18 Mbit/s
