Hi, I’m an admin (@go_jesse) on the e1000 project for Intel.

I see that we look like we have some automation that is downloading our drivers 1000+ times a day, nearly once a minute.

In particular, it seems to download i40e driver packages, and not even the latest, just the same package over and over again.

I was wondering if you can help figure out who is abusing the download services you provide, or what you might recommend we do.

I’d actually like to have accurate numbers of downloads without all the noise from the automation.

In the interests of clarity, the automation in question is not coming from intel as far as I know. I'm hoping you can help us find the source IP and server name/domain so we might chase why this is occurring.

    Hi Jesse,

The download traffic does look automated, but it seems to be coming from legitimate organizations. We don't have any concerns with serving the files to them, so we're not going to block them, but we can make the statistics more accurate for you going forward. There's a setting on each file to exclude it from statistics. We've marked that for you on the i40e-2.12.6.3 and 2.11.25 files. Those files' stats are basically 100% from the few automated locations, so I don't think you're losing any "good" statistics with them being excluded. Feel free to add or remove that setting on any files as you see fit. (Click the "(i)" icon on a file's row to see its details & settings)

    Sincerely,
