The KhanDesktop project is looking for help testing: https://sourceforge.net/projects/khandesktop/

Posted on behalf of Gary Jespersen:

The KhanDesktop project is almost trivial code wise, so coders are not needed.

What I could use is some quickie beta tests from developers, for example:

    • Does it install / uninstall ok? I've not tested it on Vista or Win8. Improvements needed? UAC behaving?
    • One of the programs main features is downloading videos. I've only tested it on slow connections (350 KBps).
Does it behave on a high speed line?
    • It runs a VLC embedded player. That appears solid.
    • Any and all suggestions / comments welcome and appreciated.

The next release should contain an updater so the 19MB of VLC need not be downloaded
    for an update.

Please post on the Developers forum at http://sourceforge.net/p/khandesktop/discussion/

And hey, you can always use the app to brush up on your linear algebra!

    Thanks so much.

I would like to test the KahnDesktop software. I have a technet subscription so I can setup Vista and Windows 8/8.1 in a virtual environment to test on.

Please send me any instructions on where to obtain the software and testing instructions. I will also perform Black-box testing.

    Hi Gary,

I have a Vista Machine. Avid user of Khanacademy since before it got noticed by Bill Gates. I've done beta testing and reporting for my former employer's chrome and Firefox extensions. I'd love to help.

I represent Hitek Computer School - Vancouver, BC private educational institution focused on intensive training in Software QA and Software Testing (Software Testing Methodology, Defect Tracking, Test Automation, Web Testing, etc.).
As a part of our internship program for Hitek graduates, we send them to various software companies for online internships. Our students work on average 1-4 months or longer FREE. The only thing we ask in exchange, is a reference (in a form of reference letter and/or telephone/email reference) based on the student's performance.
I can assure you that our professionally trained graduates are completely capable in performing QA/Software Testers responsibilities. I am wondering if you will be interested in having our graduates as Software Testers for your projects.
    Thank you,
